This painting was a variation on a theme from another painting under my "Byron" signature requested by Sherwoods Gallery in Houston, TX where it is currently for sale. The morning light creates a pleasing harmony. When I was a youngster, I was told that purple tones in the sky were a "NO NO." Thirty nine years later I still scoff at that remark. Inspiration for “Lunch Companions” appeared while driving down a local street where an old building surrounded with cactus caught my attention. It became the backdrop for a donkey and two feathered lunch companions.
This commissioned painting was a variation on a theme from another painting containing the same elements of bluebonnets and Indian paint brush flowers. The interwoven pattern created a pleasing harmony leading the eye back to the distant hills.
